Soloists: <strong>C\u00e4tlin M\u00e4gi<\/strong>, <strong>Evelin Leima<\/strong>, <strong>Helin Pihlap<\/strong>, <strong>Kadri Lepasson<\/strong>, <strong>Kert Kr\u00fcsban<\/strong>, <strong>Liisa Koemets<\/strong>, <strong>Raul Markus Vaiksoo<\/strong>, <strong>Regina M\u00e4nd<\/strong>, <strong>Tanel Sakrits<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Tuule Pihlap<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">This arrangement interweaves seven foot-tapping tunes from all over Estonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">\u2018The Tale of the Bagpipe\u2019 was written between 1921 and 1923 based on a song sung by Joosep Tuust (1908-1976) on the island of Muhu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">The second number was played on violins by Otto Hiiop (1865-1950) and Kristjan Joakit (1863-1942) from Urvaste parish in a 1936 archive recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">\u2018The Game\u2019 was recorded in 1903 based on a piece played by Hans R\u00f6nnkvist (1840-1906) on the island of Vormsi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">In a 1937 archive recording of the fourth piece, \u2018Aamer August\u2019, Hendrik Adamson (1879-1958) from V\u00e4ndra parish played the violin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">\u2018Mustjala Foot\u2019 was played on the bagpipes by Jaan Piht (1875-1950) from Mustjala parish in a 1936 archive recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">\u201cThe Karula Man\u2019s Honey Bread\u201d was published in 1904 in the \u2018Foot Waltzes for Violin\u2019 collection of T\u00f5nis Allikas (1878-1911).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">The final tune was recorded in 1929 based on a piece played by J\u00fcri Tiits (1851-1930) in Vigala parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading wp-el\"><a><\/a><a>FIDDLES<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\"><strong>The Shepherding Song<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">Arrangement by <strong>K\u00e4rt Tambet <\/strong>(1999)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">Woven into this arrangement are shepherds\u2019 calls from a 1937 archive recording as performed by Kadri Asu (1870-?) from Kolga-Jaani parish, and \u201cThe Song of the Billy-Goat\u2019s Horn\u201d recorded in a 1936 archive recording as played by Otto Hiiop (1865-1950) from Urvaste parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\"><strong>Seven<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">Arrangement by <strong>Karoliina Kreintaal <\/strong>(1988)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">Soloists: ensemble <strong>Ruhnu Island Songs and Stories <\/strong>consisting of <strong>Kairi Leivo<\/strong>, <strong>Karoliina Kreintaal<\/strong>, <strong>Lee Taul <\/strong>(1992) &amp; <strong>S\u00e4nni Noormets <\/strong>(1990)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el\">This arrangement intertwines the well-known dance tune \u20181-2-3-4-5-6-7\u2019 and the song \u2018<em>Ett, tu, tre<\/em>\u2019, which was played by Ruhnu violinist Elias Sch\u00f6nberg (1861-1943) in a 1938 Swedish archive recording.
